Park City's three resorts receive their highest rankings ever in SKI Magazine's Reader's Poll

The discerning readers of SKI magazine have officially declared their adoration for Park City's three world-class resorts - The Canyons Resort, Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort. Every September the magazine's highly anticipated Reader's Poll issue hits the stands and informs the world of how resorts rank in the opinions of its knowledgeable readers. Park City's resorts all moved up significantly in the ratings with Deer Valley Resort topping the list at #1, Park City Mountain Resort at #5 and The Canyons Resort at #14.

"We are honored that our three renowned ski areas have deservedly placed high in the reader's poll of this respected publication. The 2004-05 season was Park City's third consecutive record-breaking season for skier days and a phenomenal snow year, so clearly word is getting out about our top-notch skiing and riding and unmatched accessibility. The fact that SKI readers hold us in such high regard further demonstrates that we are doing something right," says Bill Malone, executive director of the Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau.

Deer Valley Resort is no stranger to the number 1 slot in the SKI Magazine Reader's Poll. It received the top ranking in 2002 and has placed among the top three ski resorts in North America for seven years running. The 2005-06 season marks the resort's 25th anniversary. In celebration of this milestone, Deer Valley has invested $8 million in improvements for this ski season. Enhancements include the expansion of the Silver Lake Lodge deck and Ski Corral and upgrading the Sultan lift to a high-speed quad. Deer Valley does not allow snowboarding and continues to limit the number of skiers on any given day. The FIS Freestyle World Cup will once again take place on Deer Valley's slopes Jan. 12-14, 2006.

Coming in at number 5, Park City Mountain Resort received its highest ranking ever. The Resort significantly improved its placement in virtually every category including Terrain Variety, Terrain Challenge, Grooming, Lifts and Service. Park City Mountain Resort introduced grooming on several of its advanced, black-diamond runs last season. These "Signature Runs" have succeeded in opening up more of the mountain to the intermediate skier. For the 2005-06 season Park City Mountain Resort has continued its commitment to on-mountain grooming by adding new snowcats to its fleet including a new pipe cutter to enhance the Eagle Superpipe, home of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. With new 22-foot walls, Park City Mountain Resort's superpipe will be one of the largest in North America. The resort also added 10 snowmaking guns to provide more efficient snowmaking.

The Canyons Resort received its best ranking ever this season, along with the largest improvement in the survey -moving from 22 to 14 in one year. Category rankings improved nearly across the board for The Canyons, with its highest scores in Grooming, Terrain, Family Programs, and Service. Utah's newest resort has just announced its 3-year, $400 million expansion plan, which includes the development of several new slopeside lodging properties, a golf course, and new lifts and terrain. Also new this season at The Canyons will be a reward incentive program for season pass holders, and an additional terrain park for beginners.
